Leveraging Sustainability as a Business Strategy
This course introduces sustainability as a powerful new business model of innovation and cost reduction.Sustainability strategies take into account the complex interrelationships between environmental management, social responsibility and economic viability to build value and competitive advantage into the business. Students are engaged in a number of interactive, real-work scenarios regarding unsustainable practices to understand the significance of making sustainable decisions to improve business results.
Introduction to Sustainability Planning and Certification
This eight-week instructor-led course provides hands-on experience in drafting a sustainability action plan. A blended approach of classroom instruction and online learning engages students in developing a sustainability policy and mission, outlining goals and strategies and establishing metrics to measure performance. Students explore actionable strategies for deploying sustainability down into the organization and measuring performance.

Sustainability Solutions to Technical Issues
Sustainability is a powerful concept that inspires problem solving of technical issues. This course takes a scientific applications approach to sustainability by examining and reviewing technologies and methods that provide solutions to implement an effective sustainability program. Students are introduced to the metrics to address technical approaches to air, water, land, solid waste and CO2 emission issues.

Sustainability Auditing Techniques
This course imparts knowledge of the types of audits in this specialized field. A blended approach prepares students to understand and apply the metrics and measures to evaluate and verify the functionality of a sustainability program. The course includes the tools and techniques to conduct an effective sustainability audit.

Energy RRR (Reduction, Recycle, Reuse)
Raising awareness of the principles of energy reduction, energy management and energy optimization is the objective of this course. Students will examine best practices and methods to minimize energy costs via alternative methods, as well as recycle and reuse techniques and applications.

Sustainable Solutions to Economics & Business Results
Economics and positive business results are key drivers in Sustainability applications and greatly impact the development of technologies and eventual social well-being on the environment and earth’s natural resources. This course applies the principles of economics to sustainability concepts in the production of goods and services. Students are introduced to approaches for developing “best practices” to achieve better business results.

Sustainability Program Management Techniques
Sustainability managers are often hired more for their leadership and communication abilities than for any detailed knowledge of technical sustainability practices. This advanced course is for the Certified Sustainability Manager who wants to be the champion and the coordinator, using proven techniques to help define and implement an organization’s sustainability strategy and systems.

This course is a new approach to supply chain management to help employees better understand the various scientific and practical facts of sustainability. Supply chains often represent the largest cost to an organization. Procurement professionals with a sustainability mind-set to eliminate waste and reduce costs can make better purchasing decisions.
