Workforce Development Center Remodels, Expands to Accommodate Corporate and Other Clients
February 11, 2009
Now that the construction workers are gone and the dust has settled, the benefits of the recent remodeling project at the Workforce Development Center are becoming even more apparent.
The focus of the approximately three-month project was an executive conference room that was carved out of a portion of the lunchroom in the Evendale building – originally a General Motors training center.
The conference room gives the WDC the ability to host academic and corporate clients in a setting that can handle almost any multi-media presentation. In addition to being a flexible space that can seat up to two dozen people comfortably, the room features the latest in computing and audio-visual equipment.
With that equipment, a person giving a presentation can work from a PC, show a video or DVD, display print documents on a projector and punch through a conference call – all at the same time.
The project also included modest improvements to the lunchroom and side entrance hallway and renovation of the front office area, the business manager’s workspace and the office of WDC Executive Director Dr. Dennis N. Ulrich.
The project was completed in mid-January, and, according to office manager Bonnie Jones, it has significantly improved functional capability and appearance of the WDC.
